KUANTAN, 25 AUGUST 2022: The development plan of BASF PETRONAS Chemicals is expected to be a catalyst for the growth of the Gebeng industrial area.

YAB Menteri Besar of Pahang, Dato' Sri Haji Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said, the Government of Pahang also welcomed the development plan with arms wide open.

Having achieved various successes throughout this period, with total investment of RM4.9 billion, the BASF PETRONAS Chemicals is an important asset for the country and also the State of Pahang in particular.

"I am informed that the company will also be making additional investments by increasing the production capacity of the 2-EHAcid product.

"The Government of Pahang welcomes this BASF PETRONAS Chemicals project and development plan and believes it will be a catalyst and driver to growth in this Gebeng industrial estate,”

He said this during inaugurating the 25th Anniversary Welcome Assembly of BASF PETRONAS Chemicals at BASF Petronas Chemicals Sdn Bhd, Gebeng.

Also present were YB. Pahang Government Secretary, Dato' Sri Dr. Sallehuddin Ishak; YB. Pahang State Legal Adviser, Tuan Saiful Edris Zainuddin; Deputy Secretary of the Government of Pahang (Development), YH. Dato' Razihan Adzharuddin; Chief Executive Officer of Petronas Chemicals Group, YBhg. Mohd Yusri Mohd Yusof; and BASF Petronas Chemicals Affairs Director, Mr. Marko Murtonen.

He said, the plan is also in line with the potential that state of Pahang has based on commercial indicators and indices.

"This is also in line with the enormous potential for the state of Pahang where if we look in terms of indicators and indices released by international bodies especially the business index, the state of Pahang emerges among the best states in providing facilitation and facilitating the way of commerce.

"This situation gives hope and advantage to foreign and local investors to continue to make the state of Pahang an important investment destination in the present and future.

"In this regard, the state government and local authorities will give full support and cooperation to ensure that supporting infrastructure such as connecting highways and utilities are at the best level for future development especially in this Gebeng industrial area,".
